There are a couple of write ups here in the TJ tech forum about replacing your center console speaker, just do a search. Minor fabrication needed.

You can also visit a site like quadratec that have plug-and-play replacements. The write ups have much cheaper alternatives however.

Depending on your budget and how important it is to you having bass, there are several options. Many have spent under $20 by replacing with a cheap sub in the factory inclosure. This works perfectly fine with no change in sound from factory.

As stated above, there are options such as on quadratec. This might provide slightly better sound, however you're still dealing with a small speaker.

I went for the pricier option. A company called SSV Works, make a box that will fit in the factory space, that holds a 10" sub. The box is around $230, if I remember correctly. I also purchased a higher end sub and installed it in the box, along with some polyfill. Add an amp and a new stereo head unit, if you still have the factory deck.

Yes, I know, it's not the most cost effective, however by far the best sounding and space saving option.

Whatever you do make sure you get one that's made just for Rubicon! The other TJ subwoofers are not as good, Sahara's is close but still not as good. ~

About eight years ago I bought a bazooka and cut the hell out of my center console to make it fit.
Then I found this one. Bought it and it actually sounded better than the bazooka because the impedance was right.
If you're just looking to replace factory sound this is the way to go.

That doesn't make any sense.

I got my new sub woofer from Quadractec $89.99 free shipping and installed it yesterday. sounds great.easy to insall plug and play. popped in some AC/DC
and cranked it up!

PS they list it as a subwoofer console speaker 01-06 Why would it make that I have a Rubicon?

For one year of a TJ there was a different subwoofer (clarion I think) but other than that all TJs have the same center console subwoofer unit. The only other one I know of is the tailgate area one, I've never see a replacement speaker for that unit so no concern there.

I've been thinking about going this route too since no modification to counsel is required. I checked Quadratec ' s site but it doesn't say much about the speaker itself or what's required to install. Could you please post specs on this speaker; like what brand it is,its ratings etc...also they say install takes around 2 hours. Could you also post a little info of what it entails...you're probably more patient than me but with my back 2 hours isn't a simple install!!
Thanks
