TJ hidden sound system
Custom Subwoofer Box
This project took me over two days to complete. I am still debating filling the box with polyester because it is slightly smaller volume than I would have liked for the 10" subwoofers, but it sounds pretty nice for a system in a jeep wrangler. The subwoofers are hidden in the rear seat, so when they are down you cannot see them at all. The amplifiers are each on a custom rack that pulls out from under the seat. It was a tight squeeze, but with minor modifications it works great. And the wiring connecting everything is all hidden in the console or with wire ties. NOW THERE HERE: ![]() ![]() NOW THERE NOT: ![]() ![]() Both seats have amplifiers mounted underneith on sliding racks... Once the job was complete, just slide the AMPS away and put down the seat! All the components of the bass system soon disappear. Out of sight, Out of mind! Parts List * Pioneer 10" Subwoofers (2) - - - - $127.00 for both on Ebay * Pioneer 240 WATT AMP (2) - - - - $ 90.00 for both on Ebay * ANL Fuse block (100 AMPS) - - - - $ 16.00 on Ebay * Monster 4 gauge power cable - - - - $ 28.00 on Ebay * Monster 8 gauge power cable - - - - $ 19.00 on Ebay * Speaker Box terminals (2 pairs)- - - - $ 15.00 on Ebay * 4/8 distribution block - - - - $ 5.00 on Ebay * 12 gauge speaker wire - - - - $ 20.00 at Advanced Auto * MDF Boards, screws, caulking - - - - $ 55.00 at Home Depot * Drawer slides for Amplifiers - - - - $ 40.00 at Home Depot * Underbody sound dampening paint - - $ 20.00 at Advanced Auto TOTAL PRICE FOR PROJECT : $415.00 I think overall I am doing pretty good for the sound quality I got. I will try to find more pictures of the box. I know I took them; I am just not sure where I saved them. If you have any questions let me know I am sure I could build you a box for a reasonable price as you can see above. If you are local I will even install the whole thing!

Nice Job. Is the rear seat still functional?

Im putting together one of these also. Mine isnt finished yet tho. Im going with just 1 12" pioneer and .58f^3
You should post up some plans if you get a chance. I like that setup. I found a typo on amazon and tried to order two of the pioneer 10" for 10 each, but they caught it and cancelled my order... if they didnt I would be running the same thing. How do you like it so far? |

I like the system really well... It is no competition system, but like I said before it is a Wrangler. It keeps nice music quality at highway speeds with no top and 35" MTRs. I am trying to get some plans/directions up, but all my pictures got erased I guess. Maybe I will just have to build another one for someone.
![]() This video doesnt do it justice, but the camera is just a point and click waterproof thing. That is also with only one subwoofer because I blew one of the fuses putting the seat back in after I picked up my new tires. This is how I usually run it too, volume at 20 out of 50, vocal setting on the equalizer and the seat down.

How would this be done on a 2003-2006 rear seat? I heard they're different?

That's a sweet set up! I've been wanting to that to mine for a couple of years now, just can't bring myself to cut up the back seat yet!

They are. Plans for both the 97-02 TJ and 03+ TJ are available on my website (free).

Tested it last week with my family in town for New Years. Riding around with 4 people in the car was a fun time! Both my sister and my dad claim the seat was comfortable and the ride was fine even with the top off. The ride we were doing was 30 minutes back and forth to Key West, so its no short drive down the street. I guess the box passed the family test.
