Thanks for the audio info! I listened to everyone here and it sounds great!
I lurked here for a long time reading posts about the stereo set ups and such. If anyone needs info, pay attention to the guys who know! Their info is spot on even if I never posted a question. I just kept reading other posts. I went with 5.25" for all 4 speaker locations. The brackets were picked up on ebay. I went with low RMS rated speakers since I was not amping the system. I went with Boston Acoustic S55 5.25's all around and kept the factory sub. I polyfilled the dash locations and the sound pods with pillow stuffing. I changed out the head unit with a low-end Eclipse. I did not want to put big $$$ in a head unit but did not want junk. The Eclipse works great and pushes the Boston's just fine. So to sum up what seems like 1,000,000 posts on TJ stereos:
1. Replace the head unit. The factory one is not bad, but it is not great either. 2. Match your speakers to your power. If you are going to run an amp, go with a higher rated speaker. If you are not, get a speaker as close to 30 watt RMS as you can that sounds good to your ears. 3. Get the adapter brackets and run 5.25's up front. This will help a lot. Don't waste the money on components. They will not sound any better than 5.25's up front. 4. Polyfill the space surrounding the speakers in the dash and sound pods with pillow stuffing. 5. If you want to add some bass, you are going to have to add a subwoofer. Period. SirG's backseat box works great. I like the Kenwood powered sub put in the backseat as well. No sub, no bass. Thanks again to all the guys who answered what seemed to be the same 3 questions at least once a week. Some of us do search and read posts before asking! Thanks again for good info and a great forum!

Always glad to hear someone is happy with their install. Honestly, on a whole, it's often rare that people take the time to research. They just go to BB or CC (the consumer stores) and buy it and slap it in and it doesn't work, then spend $ trying to figure out why. I appreciate when someone takes the proper time to do it right the first time. Kudos!
