SWR-Increased with New CB

I have had a Uniden 520 for a few years. The SWR was between 1-1.5. I was on my way to the Rubicon when I discovered the CB was not working. The SWR was still between 1-1.5, even though the CB is faulty. I picked up a Cobra Ultra III at a truck stop. The best I could get the SWR is 2-2.5.

Does just the CB make that much of a difference in the SWR?

It shouldn't really. Are you using an external meter to measure SWR? Besides disconnect and reconnect did you change anything else prior to measuring SWR?

The only thing that changed was my location. Used the same SWA meter both times.

Coax cable breaks down over time, or can get damaged, causing high SWR. I would suggest starting fresh with new coax and a new antenna mounting stud.
