Subwoofer Solution - Waterproof and fits under back seat!

When I bought my TJ, it had a large aftermarket sub taking up all the "trunk" space and getting regularly rained on. I pulled it out but have been missing the sound.

Solution: I just installed the Pyle PLMRBS8 8" Low Profile Waterproof Powered Subwoofer. This unit combines the subwoofer and amplifier into a single unit. It is 3" tall and fits easily under the back seat. Best of all, it is waterproof.

Certainly there are better sounding systems on the market but this sounds pretty good and it was only $135. Exactly what I have been looking for.

I wasn't crazy about the white color but it is completely hidden under the seat so who cares.

Nice and compact! How well does it pick up 30-45hz?

I hate to admit this but I don't have a clue how to answer that question. I am no audiophile (which is a good thing since I have plenty of other things to spend money on). I'm sure it doesn't sound as good as a higher quality sub in a full box. That said, my stereo sounds 100X better now than before installing this sub/amp. When you crank it up the mirrors shake. It serves my needs well and I still have room in the back for my other stuff.

That looks cool and only takes up space that would normally be unused. Where did you get it for only $135?

JVC KD-HDR50 in-dash. I love the front USB for a thumb drive. I also have Polk DB speakers (marine rated). It's not a fancy or expensive setup but it sounds pretty good for my needs. Afterall, an open Jeep rolling down the road is not exactly the ideal environment for hi-fi.

Lies, you just need enough wattage to overpower the road noise

i've seen that sub used in actual marine applications and does fairly well. As you said it won't compete with full sized higher powered stuff but it definitely beat the stock sub. Even better if you didn't have the stock sub

What? You'll have to speak up a bit.

Seriously, before adding the sub, I could barely tell what was playing when I was on the highway. Now I can hear it and feel it.

great - I think I might try this route. Thanks for posting the info. Too bad the deepdiscount seems like that they are sold out of them, or dont carry them anymore!

powered sub

i recently added the boss sub similar to the op's. (Boss Bass1500) I mounted it inside the rear seat firing down. The best part is that it takes up no space and the seat can still tumble forward. It does ok for its size and fills out the low end.

YWU - I went ahead and ordered one of these - looks like thedeepdiscount still had them for sale on ebay, but not their main page. I'll let you know how it goes once Im finished with the install.

Thanks for the heads up on this unit!
