Subwoofer in InstaTrunk?

I am pretty sure i saw a picture of this a while ago, but i couldnt find it.

Would it be possible to buy maybe a 10 inch subwoofer, cut a circular hole in my instatrunk and put the sub in it? So the instatrunk would sort of act as a sub enclosure? And im thinking the sub would be facing the back of the back seat. I am really curious if it would sound alright because i keep stuff in the trunk so a box would take up too much room. And if anyone needs more info on the instatrunk, i can take some pictures to help. Thanks guys.

No, the insta-trunk isn't sealed off from the main area and you'd get leaks. Results would be less than stellar.

Build a box for the trunk (down-firing) and then clearence out that front area so the box can exit into the vehicle, and you'll be as good as you can get with that type of setup.

Well you could do it if you went with a Free-Air style subwoofer. These are hard to find now days and the few that are still made are generally sold as Marine subwoofers. However it would still not be a good idea, you just wouldn't get a hole lot of good sound in your application of it.

SirGCal is right on with the Downfire method for your jeep. Especially if you have a soft top. That's how you will get the best output.

I used a 6.5" Bazooka off the factory head unit for over a year. Worked pretty good, but I wanted more bass. Liked the fact that I could unplug it when I needed too as well. I would suggest considering at minimum the 8" one not sure though if its to big for the insta trunk. My Tj never had one so I'm not familar with the space in there.

You should be able to get the dimensions from bazookas site. Get some cardboard and make a tube and see how it fits. I never had an install trunk in my YJ (only in my TJ) but I know I had a coca-cola carry crate (like vendors use) in that space so I would imagine there is a good chance of a tube fitting in there depending on how the trunk reduces the space.
