Sub in a Tuffy center console?

I currently have a 10" subwoofer in a box behind my rear seat on my yj and I'd like to move it from there. I need a center console and have been looking at one of those Tuffy metal ones. My question is, can I cut a hole and place my sub in there? If I did, would it sound ok? I know every sub box I've ever seen is wood so not sure how it would sound in a metal enclosure.

Nobody has any feedback? Main reason I ask is because the center console I've seen made specifically to hold a subwoofer costs almost $300!

I have that one in my jeep right now, it's OK but is not completely sealed and it would vibrate n not sound good.

Sorry I brought this old thread up I just wanted to reply so if someone else had the same question...

Get some Raammatt and deaden the console, used wood to create a floor in it and to seal the enclosure, bump away. Works in theory anyway, just make sure the seams are sealed tight.

I did that n then some, but it still has an opening where the E brake handle goes thru the enclosure. can't seal it completely.

Buy a subwoofer that doesn't require a sealed box, such as a Kicker Comp S. Keep in mind that different subwoofers have different enclosure volume requirements.
