The kicker has a different wiring set-up (single voice coil, SVC, 4 ohm) so while it can be wired to work with the factory amp you're only going to get about a third of the power. Look back thru this thread...I think we have the wiring configs discussed.

Alright, I got the bazooka, installed it without too much of a problem, but I still have no sound. I have power to the amp at the wiring harness plug. It must be the amp?
At this point I'm thinking I should install a cheap amp under the seat. I didn't mind the stock sound so I have a tough time justifying spending too much money. Can anybody give me some direction? Also, if I get an amp, I need to figure out which of the eleven wires in the console will be connected to the amp. Any wiring diagrams out there for an '06 unlimited? Thanks |

I was mostly happy with the 7 speaker set-up when I first got my wrangler. Then over time from leaving the top down and playing music with low bass frequencies my factory sub started to fail on me. It's usually with that failure most people decide to upgrade. Depending on your listening tastes and how much you drive the Jeep, this will be sooner or later.

Seems this subwoofer (kicker Comp VT 08CVT652) has been discontinued in 2-ohm. There is a 4-ohm available now. Luckily i was able to score a 2-ohm model on Amazon for about $65. This thread has been very helpful as im currently in the process of building up my stereo system!

Time to bring this thread back from the dead. So if you've read this whole thread you know that i put the bazooka sub in as a replacement. It required some modification, but provided fairly decent sound.
Of course it's never enough. I've had a decent CDA-9815 Head unit in there for years. I have no want or need to change it. It wheels with me everywhere i go and has worked fine.... I did decide I wanted a little bit more from the bazooka and decided I also wanted sub control from the 9815 sub outputs. As you probably know ( I didn't), you can't really do this with the stock amp. The head unit puts out enough power (rear channels plus stock amp) to make the sub sound decent. But if you want to isolate the sub, it needs its own amp. So... I have the bazooka, its dual voice coil. What AMP (small footprint, dirt cheap) would be best. Mind you, I'm not an audiophile and do not want a flame thrower aimed at me for not knowing f'all about it. I thought maybe this was a decent option. Also.. Where the heck do you put it?
It'd be nice to put it in the console. Under the seat scares me. I'm also open to somewhere behind the dash. |

I "think" this sub is 100 Watt... I'm not sure yet though. I noticed on a bazooka forum that they wouldn't give up the specs for the speaker. Which is kinda crap.
I assume the specs are 100W (RMS?) at 2 ohm, dual voice coil... |

As time passes, so do the subs mentioned. I'm not sure what all is wrong with mine. I'm pretty sure the sub is blown (goes in and out if I'm on a rought road), but still plays at degraded quality. My tweeters sometimes goes in and out, also.
Has anyone found a small amp that'll work? Looks like the Bazooka is no more, so are there any other DVC 2ohms our there?
