NO guarantees when you take on a mixed (aftermarket factory) project but it should be a direct bolt in. The wiring colors change by year for the sub. Before you disconnect the factory sub use some masking take to mark the wires then connect them to the bazooka exactly the same. you'll have 2 - and 2 + and they will be in pairs one on each side of the magnet.

I've got a sub enclosure out of a 2000 Range Rover which is made by Harman Kardon. The stock sub is an 8inch, but I'm more interested in the little amp it has with it. It's just a tiny little black box like the OEM Jeep one, but I'm sure it'll put out more than the Jeep Amp. I'm going to mess around with it and see if I can install the 8inch Sub and retrofit the LR amp vs the Jeep Amp. I'll keep you guys posted.

Just an update on my Kicker Comp VT 65.
Bought it for 50 bucks off ebay brand new (sweet!) Have had it installed for 3 months now. Works great! Though i'm pretty sure it's underpowered from the stock amp. However, my stock sub WAS working when I got it, and the kicker def sounds a lot better. Def more thump and clarity in the bass. $50 well spent, and recommended. As for 05 wiring, I have no idea. Sorry! |

I just completed this upgrade, and for the price you can't beat it. Sounds much better then stock, but not thumping by any means. I went ahead and stuffed the sub-woofer enclosure with speaker wadding and that also made a big difference.

I don't know why everyone here is so hung up on SonicElectronix. Their prices stink. Here's the same kicker 6.5" sub for $45.00 less:
http://www.millionbuy.com/kik08cvt652.html Spend $200.00 and everything ships free.

Replacement Amp?
So if I wanted to replace the factory amp with a small amp to power the kicker how hard would that be and what amp should I look for?

Find the manufacturer's specs and then select an amp that matches those specs. It can even be a little overpowered but not more than 30% of the minimum rms rating.
For the kicker linked above which is 2 ohms single voice coil (SVC). You're going to need a mono amp that runs at 150 watts rms at 2 ohms. |

A true stock sub replacement is found. I ordered some parts for an install from partsexpress.com it came with a print catalog and I was flipping thru. Came across a 6.5" DVC sub. I don't still have my stock sub enclosure so unless someone wants to give me one, someone else will have to be the first guinea pig. Looks like it will be a direct fit, should be able to get full benefit out of the stock amp. Granted this speaker would be like a stock speaker it will probably have the same 2 year lifespan but for those who just want to replace the blown speaker, this is a find. There's even a review on there from someone with a wrangler.

So close... The stock sub is a 2-ohm DVC wired to 1-ohm... Amp is ~ 75W as such. This 4-ohm option would be wired to 2-ohms and said amp would still work but product roughly ~ 37.5W as such... Should work though, might not be as punchy as the stock option.

Yes, this is true, but it's the best option that's presented itself in a while. Also very inexpensive.

I just put the $10 Pyramid 6.5" with some polyfil. Sounds a little better than stock and was very easy to replace. No complaints. Under $30 shipped to Canada.

Anyone with the bazooka have any luck? I ordered one and it's waaaaaay to deep.
I will mod the box, but I need quite a bit of clearance. |

To the best of my knowledge no one has done the bazooka replacement. Post pics of your install and a review once you have it rigged up.
