Sterio.. Kenwood KDCMP922
Has anyone used a Kenwood KDCMP922 beofer? Im looking at a cd player/mp3/satilite radio and really like that kenwood, but how good would it be for a jeep? According to Tweeter, it will fit, im jsut not sure. What are your guys opinions?

Most all DIN sized units will fit... ANd The Kenwoods aren't bad at all. I don't have experience with that one in perticular though.

I got mine on backorder directly from Kenwood right now. Last I head a boat was coming in this week, and should get it in another 1.5-2weeks.

i personally don't like the flip style headunits, I'm afraid the motor will break down the road.

I have the MP825 coming this weekend.
This will be the first motorized faceplate I've owned, so we'll see on the longevity of its life. A deciding factor for me was the fact that this unit (and probably your 922) has the ability to turn all the way around for stealth

Those stealth blank faces don't fool anyone. It just lets the thieves know the head unit face is still there... Don't rely on that for theft protection...

I say that because I can. I've owned 3 Kenwoods now and listened to the Kenwood haters for years. She's no Eclipse, but she's a lot cheaper.
What's the on 20 characters?

This will be my second Kenwood. Had the X711 (still do actually) and my face has completely become inoperative. It doesn't light up, doesn't work when you push buttons, remote doesn't work, nothing. All it does is flip over when you put the key in the ignition and starts playing the CD. I've been litening to the same CD for 4 months now. I don't think I will ever listen to it again!
The reason I bought another Kenwood, is my dad works for them, so major discount

If you don't have 20 characters in your post, it will not be accepted and kicked back to you.......I tried to post the first part of that message, got it kicked back, hence the "20 characters "...........

This is probably the BIGGEST complaint I ever hear about Kenwood. Not their electronics; but their mechanics... It's common...
All modern unit manufacturers are turning to the flip-down face of some type and they will all be suceptable to failure at some point down the road. Some can be easily repaired and/or replaced by the manufacturer and some you just swap out for new... Finding non-motion faces today are becomming harder and harder cause each manufacturer is trying to sell on features and appearence and that big fat mouth takes up realistate on the face they could use for more LCDs and crap... :-/

I had a kenwood tape deck I installed in my jeep 2 weeks after I got it so i could hook up a cd changer. It was a mask. A thief might know it's there but they're not sure if it's worth $20 or $500. I replaced it with another Kenwood. 3 months out of the year I drive with no top or doors and it's still in there. Although I also invested in a nice alarm as well.

Alot of that can also depend on the area you are in... Around here they'll steal a 20 year old Krako' radio if it has the face on it... They even stole a dual knob $5 Wal-mart Special one from my wife's car a while back... Sometimes they even take them witout a face jsut cause they are (CENSORED) people...
The 'shadow' face in this town is nothing more than an invite for a free radio... It sucks... But alot of that's this town too... It's a real (CENSORED) here from some aspects...
