Static on Alpine FM radio....Already searched
Hey guys,
I have an Alpine aftermarket deck in my TJ when I bought the Jeep and it didn't have any static in the FM stations, but soon after I had to replace the head gasket and ever since then I have unbearable static. It doesn't happen with the CD player, which leads me to the antenna, but I've moved the antenna wire away from any other wires and pulled it out and checked that all of the connections are tight and secure. I have rechecked the grounds in the engine compartment and there are two grounds coming off the harness right at the top of the engine compartment, with one attaching the the firewall and the other attaching to nothing. I've attached it to the valve cover, since it looked like it fit perfect but that helped none and I also attached it to the body also with no change. I've also regrounded the radio at several spots behind the dash with no change and this thing is honestly driving me crazy since I can't even listen to my iPod through my FM transmitter since it's pulling in static(although the static is less pronounced I'm guessing due to the strong signal it puts out so close to the antenna. Anyone have any ideas or should I look at buying a new antenna wire? All help is appreciated!! Billy ![]()

Ok, after searching on several other sites, I'm pointing at ignition wires(since I changed those when I replaced the head gasket).
Anyone have any suggestions for plug wires that would cut down on this interference? Thanks |
