Speakers or Head Unit?

My speakers seem to have died last night. They still play but you can only hear it at full volume and it sounds all treble (no bass or mid range at all) subs still hit like normal. cant think of anything to do or where to start

Help please.....?!

Need a lot more detail than this. You say you have subs so you must be running at least one amp. How are you powering the speakers and what is your setup? How many speakers do you have and how many are affected? It happened all at the same time? What was happening when they died? Was it cranked up all the way or was it good when you shut it down and not when you turned it on next? What do you have in your system, type of stereo (factory or aftermarket)?

What level/what kind of music were you listening to at the time (frequencies/volume range)? Is this an aftermarket head unit? How long was the sub installed? Are you using a LOC or is it RCA out?

If it's a recent install I would double check all wiring (guage of wire is exceptionally important). However I suspect the head unit's crossover has failed. It's somewhat unlikely 4 speakers blew at the same time from too low frequency. The sub still functions normally b/c the sub amp crossover is adjusting the signal.

problem solved. i didnt think the speakers were blown cause when i first took a look at them they seemed fine. turns out both of them are blown in the upper part of the cone.

Wow, You blew a speaker to the point it was visible. How much power were you putting into those little suckers?
(Most blown speakers just melt the voice coil and refuse to more, no cone damage)

A friend blew his front speakers that way. Most people forget to turn on a high pass filter on their midranges after they install subs, and that's what happens. Oh well, time to upgrade.
