Speaker Help Please...

I have an '04 Wrangler Rubicon and I was wondering if you guys could help me with what I have for speakers in it. I went to about 4 different car audio websites and searched it and got 4 different answers. From what I can tell I have 2 in the dash and two in the speaker pods on my rollbar. The other night I decided to "jam" to some GNR and I think there was a speaker pumping from my center console. Do I have a factory mid range driver in there or what?

Thanks guys!

No crap? Wow, I don't have the bass response I would expect from an 8"...I can fix that though!

I could believe it being a 6.5" much easier than an 8", I just don't see how there would be that much room! I don't know how much sound I could get out of one 6.5", guess I will have to do some research.

Next to impossible to find a 8" woofer to fit, the magnet is too big to clear the brake lever.

It's a 6.5" sub, i replaced mine with a dual voice coil one from SAS (Bazooka). Made a huge difference. Also replaced the four other speakers. You can install 6" into the pods on the roll bar and 5 1/4 in the front but i just put in the factory size 4" ones up front. The biggest difference is when you swap out the factory headunit for an aftermarket one.

X 2 on the bazooka....made a big difference. Check out the threads on the electronics section and it will give alot of info. A good write up over on the rubicon owners forum dot com.

I have a friend that owns a home and car audio/video shop that is already trying to help me spice things up a bit. I have had big bad systems in vehicles before and that is not what I am looking for here! I just want a tad more sound. I was a little dissappointed the other night when I found out how quiet everything was when I had it "maxed out". I was just thinking about an aftermarket headunit and new speakers in the factory locations.

I just installed an Alpine 103BT along with Kicker 4" in the dash and 5.25" in the rear pods. The difference though was when I installed sound deadener in the rear pods. Took a while, but it was worth the effort.

Why the need for sound deadener? Do those pods tend to vibrate when cranked?
