speaker connectors

Im installing new speakers in my jeep and there was a previous system in there. The wiring connectors into the older speakers looks like they are simple plugs (one red and one white) that connect to the + and - of the speaker itself. I easily slid them off and onto the new ones, the only thing is that they are not as tight on the new ones. I've tried squeezing the shi out of them and they wont get tight enough and I'm afraid they will slip off after I hit a few rough spots while driving, any trick to these plugs? or do i just need to clamp them more?

Cut them off and put on proper female blade terminals for the speakers.
