Ahhh.. What does it sound like if you turn the crossover's up? Does it get too boomy or does that fix your problem? (say 200Hz).

Btw i was checking out the pictures of your 2004 install. Did you have any vibration problem with the cover of the light in the pods. My left pods light cover rattles sometimes, I am thinking of putting silicon around the edges..

yup, and that's pretty much what I did. Just a drop or you'll never get it off again to replace the bulb.
Ok... Next question. Does your Alpine have built-in filters? Are they turned on? (they shouldn't be since we're using the amp's).

What do you mean built in filters?
In my Audio Settings I just have Equalizer (there are a number of presets i have mine to flat) There is MX Setup (I have it off) There is Subwoofer On or Off, I have it on Then there is subwoofer reverse something. I have it set to normal although i tried reverse and nothing changed.

My Alpine has built-in adjustable crossovers. I'm asking if yours does also or if it has some other bass filtering feature for the fill speakers built in. Something else you could test easily is turn the other amp from hp to ap (all pass) basically turning the filter off. Turn off the basslink for this test. Do the speakers seem to be playing full range? If not; there's some other filter on them. I don't think the SX's have a high-pass for the woofer itself, just one for the tweeter. But that's also possible. Haven't seen one from this-year's lineup. But they have a good frequency response so I wouldn't see why they would even want to put one on... (especially a first-order that would be in the basket like that).

ok back. I think i found out the problem, its with the equalizer.
I first did what you told me about turning off the high pass, didn't really do much, the music sounded bad. I played around with different settings for the crossover and gain to no avail. anyway I then decided to try the equalizers and once I put the setting to "Rock" the sound came to life. I then turned the subwoofer on and it was loud. When i turned the subwoofer level all the way down to 0 it was still loud, i actually had to lower the gain and bass boost on the basslink. The music sounds much fuller now. I still need to work on it a bit more, i think i need to increase the gain on my speakers a little bit and maybe turn up the crossover slightly but at least I am getting somewhere. I can't believe what a difference this made.

![]() Good reading here. keep us updated. The midrange response is something I'm worried about too. Or maybe higher bass notes, anyways, that's what I'm getting at. That's what I'm most worried about.
