Well, 4 AWG isn't going to be like a pencil.. More like your finger or maybe thumb if you have small hands.. But a good automotive manufacture like you have, it should be pretty bendable so it shouldn't be too difficult to get it to where you have to put it.

I have a large set of cutters I use for big gauge wire but you can do it with tin snips.

hey..so i don't have time to pull the seat apart again and show you step by set but here are a couple photos. all i did was screw a peice of ply to the frame and put the seat cover back over...i would not recomend stuffing an amp into any enclsoed space but ya. it just gave me a hard surface to mount to. i don't think i am gonna stay with this set up and i am currently thinking about doing a similar setup as SirGCal has done on his website...puregenius! but for now it keeps my crossovers out of sight. i used energy speakers. the are copontent but ahve the option of bing mounted as i show them or as a serpeate tweeter. anyways here is what i did. oh and when the seat is down there is plenty of room for air flow. and just to clairify the wood is across the entire bottom of the frame so mounting is endless. but the most space available is near the front of the rear bench. "where your feet would be"

Click free. It's a great idea if amps wouldn't need space to breathe. I love SirGCal's box though. There is NOTHING more stealth than that. And if you have seat covers, it's absolutely invisible unless you touch the woofer with your hand.

It's tight.

The in seat box is amazing!!! I built one for the TJ last summer when I was still lurking here.. Modded it a touch to fit a RF 10P2.. Hits harder than I ever would have imagined...

A lot of valuable information here in this thread!!! As we speak my Alpine 550 (90 watts per channel) Amp/wiring kit/new Infinity Reference 6*9's (Soundbar) are on there way. I saw in the other post that an Alpine 250 would fit under the passenger seat. I do not think the 550 will. I got the 4 gauge kit as well for the wiring. I cannot wait to install it.

SirG - will I need those seat risers for a 2000? From the pics are they just stamped steel risers that literally raise the seat height? How much do they raise the seat if so?

thanks

Jon

Interesting. I assume they are solid stock so that they wouldn't shear or bend from use?! How much do they run? Where are they bought? Thank you.

I found them. Is this a better route than what was discussed above? I would want what is best.

If I get one of those, I'm only going to install it in the interior. You wouldn't even need to install the fuse inside the engine bay if the battery wasn't so far away.

Too bad too, I think the fuse blocks and power distributors in some kits add a nice touch to the setup.

You talking about the ones for the front seat? They do not raise the seat. They simply are not the tilt-fold ones which take up all of the under seat room. This lets the amp go there (if it fits).

ok i managed to get the drill bits, extension cord, screws but i wasn't able to get the rca and speaker cables.

the store that sells stinger cables was closed so i went to this other place that had a 17' 4 channel Tsunami rca cable but he wanted like $75 for it and $20 for 10 meters of speaker cables (unknown brand). I think thats too much to pay. Do I really need good quality RCA cables? I mean what the difference between cheap and expensive rca cables?
