Small AMP incase anyone was looking for one.

I just bought one of these and will be hooking it up to a 8" Sony Xplode 300watt sub, bridging of course:

NEW 300 WATT MINI SIZE CAR STEREO SPEAKER AMPLIFIER amp - eBay (item 330395961819 end time Feb-05-10 19:34:23 PST)

I'll let everyone know the quality once I get it, using it with a JVC Head Unit.

Did a little research, 130 rms. Only info I could find were off of bike forums. Anyways, for $30 can't go wrong pushing a sub in the center console. I'm not looking for deep bass, just something to make up for the dash and soundpods.

I have mentioned that amp before as a replacement for the factory amp when upgrading the center console sub. I'll be curious to see your review. Take pics of where you end up mounting it.

If anyone is looking for something a little more robust with a small footprint and small price tag take a look at the soundstream stealth series (I've been using one for the last year with success) or the USamps XT series.

XT-800.2 - US Amps 2 Ch 400 Watt Power Amplifier

On a side note, does anyone know how to hook up stock amp with aftermarket head unit?

Did you use a wire harness adapter when you installed the JVC? If you did, all you need to do is identify which harness (there was a revision) you have and connect the proper wires together. I'm not sure what model JVC you have, but the two that I looked at had a dual use (amp or antenna) blue/white wire. If you have the light grey harness, your connection will be blue/white to blue/white. If you have the dark grey harness, your connection will be blue/white to blue.

That's just a cheap "chip amp". No real power and not very clean at all. When I say "chip amp" I mean the amplification is done with IC chips (IC = integrated circuit), not mosfets or other high quality power transistors.

okay, after seeing the original post, i bought the 300W mini amplifier for sh*ts and giggles. it came in today, and i hooked it up to a 6" bazooka bass tube i had lying around.

my brother, who's a competitive audiophile (sq and spl competitions) thought i was completely insane for wasting my money. well, after everything was hooked up, i powered it up, and believe it or not, the mini amp and 6" bazooka combo sound pretty decent! granted, you're not going to win any competitions or rattle any windows, however, we were both very impressed at it's improvement over the stock subwoofer and overall outpout. the output is actually shocking, being that i didn't expect ANY i improvements at all. the low-pass filter is decent; sounds like it cuts off at about 80Hz and the high-pass filter seems to cut off at around 120Hz.

would i recommend it to anyone? well, if you have the $37.00 to burn, sure. if you're expecting ground pounding bass, you'll be disappointed. i'd imagine that if you were to hook this up to a pair of 6x9s, you may get a richer, fuller sound... but heck, let's not forget that we're driving jeeps.

my next plan is to paint the bazooka either red (to look like a fire extinguisher) or blue, (to look like a power tank)

i'll post pictures if/when i get that part done. have a great day!

If you paint you'll want to avoid painting the speaker. Adding paint may change the weight of the woofer cone which could effect it's movement and the interior components over time.

Thanks for the write up NEI10. Now I'm kind of curious as to how it will work out for BWFBezerk, and his 8" sub...
