SirGCal's in seat box
I know that an '03 has the smaller of the 2 designs but i am wanting to mount 3 Polk db 8's in the seat. they have a mounting depth of 4" and required airspace of .35 cubic feet. I just didnt know how much airspace and mounting depth the design allowed. are these gonna fit?

check out SirGCals website. he has the box plans, that is shown being built for 3- 8's.
i don't know how much room is available in that particular box , i don't want to calculate it myself , but he has calculators available on his website also. http://www.sirgcal.com/

.35^ft is 1.05^ft needed, the in seat box does not provide that much space.

while the depth could be achieved; the 03+ seats do provide a way to make the boxes deeper by extending them through the bottom of the seat. This also means raising the seat itself with risers. Problem is that much is a lot to ask for. If you raise it enough to get the depth; you could do two of them quite well. But not a trio. Pretty much the tripple 6" is the only trio for that seat.

I just bought new seats front and rear. I got Bestop seats, Is there much difference in the factory seats and the Bestop? I am going to try to put my 10" sub in my rear seat. I was planning on putting it behind the seat but I really like everything about the in seat set up.

I honestly do not know about the Bestop seat structure. I'd carefully take one apart and measure it out to see; but I don't have one around here. I hear they are basically stock replacements (the fold/tumble version anyhow) but that doesn't say how exact to stock they are. An examination would be the only way to know for sure.

![]() ![]() ![]() The tripple 6" is tight and accurate (suprisingly so). Not overly loud though. It is much louder than any console setup I've heard yet (single 8") but a good pair of 8" subs could easily surpass it in volume. I would call it an extreme SQ setup. Totally SQ focused; not at all focused on SPL. While you can feel it and it'll vibrate your mirrors and such, it's not going to win any volume trophies. If you want more power; consider a pair of 8" or single 10". The Pioneer I did for the 04' was still pretty good on the SQ and had surprising kick. So for more of a street system, it might be more of what you're after.

Well I was thinking about it, and the sub I have has a mounting depth of 6 5/8" so I dont think I would have enough room for that kind of depth. Looks like it will be behind the seat. |

Since I dont think I can fit the sub under the seat I am going to mount it like this pic. I done it on a paint program so its not that great but you get the idea lol. The sub will be down firing with the front about two inches higher than the back. The top of the enclosure will be even with the fender wells with the same type carpet on it. I was thinking about putting plexiglas on the back of the sub part of the box so with the rear gate open you would be able to see the sub. What do you all think?

I bought a new fixed seat, plus im going to bolt the whole thing down so if they do realize what it is it will be a little harder for them to take it.

As long as you can tie the box into the tub somehow, then you should be alright. Make an insta-trunk out of the box as well, and it can be very secure and invisible.
