Replacement subwoofer for factory console!

Does anyone have experience with replacing the stock factory subwoofer with an aftermarket one? Did it make a difference?

Any brand recommendations that worked well?

What size is that subwoofer anyway?

i believe it is a 6" however you can fit an after market 8 with few modifications... but you will need a new amp, since the stock amp is running 1 ohm ( i believe) and no after market speakers are 1 ohm compatible...

thats not true red. a 2ohm DVC sub is 1ohm. there are a lot of 1ohm subs out there. if you upgrade the sub you will need to build a custom box inside the console. if you do a little reading you will find the thread that has the info you need. search is your friend. this is one of the most asked questions on here.

Yea, stock sub is 1-ohm (2-ohm DVC wired to 1-ohm), 6", supposed to be around 75W RMS but it's not in most cases... So you'll not find an after market equivalent without replacing the amp too. You can do a 6", 8" or even shoe-horn in a 10" I hear, into the console. Or you can do a lot more with an in-rear seat (see my site for more info) or behind-rear seat setup. There's endless posts of all these methods. As Mylt1 said, search is your friend if you want quick options.

didnt kicker used to make a 6" sub or were they just mid bass? what about the JL audio 6W0's?

edit, just looked at the JL's they only come in 4 or 8 ohm. oh well. but maybe one of them with a cheap little 75 or 90wrms amp would fill the bill?
