replace factory head unit with Sony

My buddy is upgrading his system and wants to sell me his SONY XPLOD CDX-M630. Has anybody had any expierence with this radio? It's a detachable face with all the bells and whistles and I can get it for $185......

Thanks..

52watts x4, XM ready, detachable face, doesn't play MP3. Sells new for around $250. $185 is a good price for that provided its in good condition. Go for it.

look at this

Sony is generally not the best stereo equipment, for a little more you can go way up the scale, look at the link a Pioneer, MP3/CD player new and warranty in effect for less money..something to think about.

I've actually heard many bad things about their headunits (sony). Read up on them on the stereo boards. I always thought they were OK, but now I would never buy one. I reciently got a pioneer and for the money, its a really nice radio.

DON'T DO IT!!

I had a SONY Explode with the detachable face CD player and it worked great except for bumps...Every little bump would make the CD skip! Just 2 weeks ago, the unit not being 7 month's old, the outputs blew! I had no sound coming out of the speakers. I replced the unit with my old stocker tape deck and atlleast I have tunes again.

p.s.
Sony tech support SUX! They were absolutely useless!
