Remote doesn't work on my 2000 XJ

When I bought the my XJ, the remote wasn't working but I was told that it was just the battery. I changed the battery, but it still doesn't work.

What should I check???

Thanks!

What remote? Door locks? It could have been unset from the alarm or whatever and you might have to recalibrate it to the alarm. STock ones, take to the dealer.
