Rear turn signal/brake problem

I have a 98 ZJ and my left turn signal works fine but when I also apply the brake, it stops blinking, but when I let my foot off the brake it goes back to blinking perfectly. Does anyone know what could be wrong? I tried to replace both the brake light and turn signal lights, but same problem.

Could be the stalk on the steering wheel. My friend has the same problem and that's what he's doing to fix it. I'll update after he gets the switch.

could be a feed back in the tail light plug or even a bad ground. clean the contacts inside the bulb holder and check the groungs. if that doesnt fix it try a new socket.
