The rattle has got to go.

Hey guys. Quick question. I have a pair of Focal 5.25s in my sound bar running off a JL 300/2. It sounds good, except that my dome light has developed an increasingly MADDENING rattle. It has gotten so bad that I can get it rattling at almost any volume. Anyone have any I deas on how to correct this other than driving around hith my right hand pressed up aginst the dome light? I know the obvious answer would be Dynamat, polyfill, etc. My concern is that the rattle being so sensitive at this point and the light being right inbetween the speakers, will it make a difference? Just wondering what you guys thought. Thanks.

I had the same problem after upgrading the speakers in my sound bar. A quick fix is just to pull the lens but cosmetically thats not the best option. To permanently fix it, I completely stuffed the area between the light and each speaker with polyfil and the vibration stopped. I at first aslo filled in the speaker cavities with polyfil but I found the bass response was too tight, so I took the polyfill out from behind each speaker and now its perfect.

try a dab of clear sylicone(sp?) either on the lip of the lense or the grove where the lense fits and let it dry. it will act as a rubber bumper and hold pressure on the lense.

silocone or foam weather stripping work good for stuff like this.. anything to give it a barrier.
