Purchasing headlight relay(s), suggestions?

I bought the IPF H4 headlight conversions along with the FatBoy bulbs, however I think as long as I'm tinkering around under the hood I might as well get some headlight relays installed to maximize the efficiency. Basically I'm looking at either the IPF relay ($80+) or a relay from SUVLIGHTS.COM ($55+).

I plan on installing fog lights in a few months, so I would like a relay able to handle both the headlights and any fog lights I might grab. If those with either the IPF relay or SUVLIGHTS relay could chime in and let me know their experiences I would be grateful before making the purchase.

I can't comment, except that I've seen good comments here about the suvlights.com harness... which is the one I plan to get now that I've got my Cibie H4s in.

I bought my headlight harness from suvlights.com too and it's a nice harness. I don't see any reason to pay more for the IPF since the suvlights harness is well made and holds up fine. And considering the low cost of the two relays, relay holder, wiring, and minimal labor to connect things up, they're not losing any money at even the $55 price.

Alright, looks like the SUV harness is the way to go. If I get fog/driving lights will this harness work just fine or will I have to buy another?

Headlight harnesses have plugs on them that match the headlight's connectors. So while a headlight harness could be modified to work for fog/driving lights, you're better off buying a wiring harness/relay kit designed for driving/fog lights since it will have bare wires to splice onto the wires from the driving or fog lights. Most driving and fog light manufacturers like KC, PIAA, etc. have prewired wiring harness and relay kits available.

?

Have any of you experienced a significant light output with the direct/upgraded light harness?

It helps when using higher wattage lights than the factory installs. The factory wiring is adequate for 55 watt lights but it offers a little too much resistance for heavier wattage bulbs which can both overheat the wiring and make the bulbs run dimmer than they would with more adequate gauge wiring and relays.

H4's use the same plug as the factory sealed beam lights...

NP

BTW, the H4 upgrade is one of the most useful mods I've done so far! You'll be glad you spent the money every night you drive your Jeep!
