a possible speaker solution

I have been looking for an all weather speaker set up, think this will work? I have a set of sony explode 6x9's. They have a plastic cone so they wont be apt to rotting. I am thinking of mounting them inside of Military Ammo Cans, med sized ones and tack welding the top down. . I am going to put a small 90 degree lip above the speaker to shed as much water as possible. I was also thinking of mounting an 8 in sub in one. Anybody like or dislike this idea?
