O2 sensor wiring hell for 96 xj
I have a 96 xj and I bought a new o2 sensor. Problem is that the plug from the jeep got ripped off. Can someone help me with what wires go to what. Coming off the jeep is a: black n white, black n blue, tan n white, and a green and orange. Help needed please and thank you.

Well, nothing easy. For my 97,ZJ, 5.2,
Assuming it is the upstream Heated Oxygen sensor, (must be the same for the rear one if you have one), Draw a circle with a small box on the left side at 9-o-clock (box is the lock clip). Going clock wise

1 - dark green/orange - Is the auto shutdown relay output
2 - Black/ tan - Ground
4 - Black/orange- (you are calling a Tan/white)- ? It is the upstream heated oxygen sensor signal.
3- Black/Light Blue -Sensor ground.

On your drawing, lock clip pointed to the Left - Pin 3 is below pin 1, pin 4 is below pin 2.

Before connecting PM me. That Tan and White bothers me. I have someplace a check on this with a multimeter.

Yea! I literally searched everywhere just the colors vary from jeep to jeep. I saw one guy with same colors as me and I pm'd him but he never replied.

The danger here is that you send the heater voltage to the pcm if you get this wrong. Without the wiring diagram I would do nothing. I would stop searching and ask on your Jeep Forum for someone with a factory manual or find one on E-bay.

I can help you but I need more info...Which model XJ is it? Claasic, SE, Sport or Country edition.

The specs for the Classic are as follows

Pin 1 Dark Green/Orange...ASD Relay
Pin 2 Black/White............Common Ground
Pin 3 Black/Lt Blue...........Sensor Ground
Pin 4 Tan/White..............DNSTRM HO2S

Mine is a sport! And those are the colors coming off my jeep but I don't know what colors Match up!

What style plug is on the sensor? Flat, Square or round?

If it's the square one this is what it should be...
This plug is off a 94 2.5 so the colors are not the same but the pin location will be.
