Noobie Radio Problem

Alright guys, my CD player/radio cuts out every now and then. It is accompanied by a loud popping sound from the speakers, and the display on the unit goes out momentarily at the same time, but then comes back on. I noticed it happening more at night w/the headlights on. What could it be- a bad connection in the unit itself? I cannot seem to pinpoint if the loud popping noise comes from one speaker or another...Any suggestions guys? Thanks again.

sounds like a connection problem. I know that the stereo ground in the TJ's can be problematic, so perhaps an additional or upgraded ground would help?

First thought is also power/ground feed. Most likely the ground strap.
