New sound system
I'm going to install in a new sound system in my sons 91 wrangler. So far my thoughs are a JVC KD A805 head, Alpine PDX-5 amp, Polk audio db461p speakers in the dash. Now this is where Im getting stuck on how to proceed. Do I want an overhead sound bar with maybe a sub behind the back seat, or maybea couple of quad pods that provide both back speakers and subs? The Jeep does not have a hard top, can anybody please advise on what seems to be working the best.

Personally subs in plastic aren't really a good choice. Building a good downfiring box out of MDF for behind the rear seat would be better than the quad pods. also the coaxial speakers aren't inthe best location and risk damage when the jeep is driven with the top off. If your son ever uses a tonneau or wants to start it can't be used with the quad pods either. A sound bar is always a good choice for volume...works for front and rear passenger listening.
In my YJ I chose to use the centrapod (so I could fit 5.25" speakers in front) and the 6x9 pods that hook to the rollbar. here's a link to instlling dash speakers in a YJ... http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalJeepWranglerFSpk1.htm |
