Looks good. I thought about mounting mine in the same spot but with my two monkeys climbing in and out and pushing the passenger seat all the way forward, it would only be a matter of time before I'd have to relocate it.

I mounted mine on the driver side of the shifter console. Not the most practical location if you plan to use it on the freeway as it is a pain to switch stations but I only use it on the trails.

How did the install of the mount go? I just got one (yet to be installed) and the directions are a little unclear; whats the order of the washers/rubber spacers? Do they go on the inside or the outside of the body tub?

Overall looks good!

heres the deal the mount came with 2 huge bolts sticky out and that really scared me so i didnt want to drill any holes in my jeep plus they would be above the light so they couldnt be hiden if i took off the antenna so i took some bolt cutters cut off the bolts and grinded them down with a grinder i made it all smooth and painted it black with your generic spray paint then i just took off the light put the antenna cable through the light wire hole and put the bracket on with the light then put the antenna adapter on the antenna mount and then connected the cable. overall really easy wired the whole thing up including the cb with mounting in 30 minutes but im really good at this kind of stuff cause im a real tinker so i take stuff apart and put them back together fast here is a pic with the order.

u need to go to radio shack and get one of these for the antenna to be mounted on the metal part the hole is ment for a coaxial adapter.

will it hurt the antenna to drive in slowly and all that, cause when you close the garage it should have room. What are you gonna do in areas of low clearance?

o yeah and is there a way to rig up a removable flag for that antenna so that when you go offroading you dont need that AND a big flag

Will that adapter work with a normal RG58 coax cable plug? (IE-What comes on the end of the coax already?) It doesn't seem like they are the same size whatsoever. Oh, and here's a pic of the plug that I'm using:

What kind of plug did you use?

I have the same mount, have not installed it yet. If its not too much trouble, how did the coax enter the tub? Do the brake wires enter the tub? can you post a pic of the wires inside your jeep and how they entered. I want to tackle this install soon but cannot figure out how the coax gets into the jeep. Thanks.

the coax entered the tub through the brake light hole then up through a gasket in the fender under the carpet behind the back left roll bar hoop. u can then just put the wire under neath the lip of the tub i will take a pic soon and show u

I have the same mount/antenna. I went ahead and drilled into my tub and bolted the two studs down tight, along with the tail light screws. I debated over this quite a bit, but after studying the mount, distance from the antenna base and the upper screws from the tail light, I decided that the flexing stresses might be too great on the light mounts and wanted the extra bracing. I'm not saying this is necessary to do, just that it seemed to me to be the thing to do. I can say this....that mount doesn't move at all.

I had a 4' Firestick II but it was too tall to clear my garage. I swapped it with a 3' and am fine now. The load on the top of the antenna is completely above my roofline and I'm getting very acceptable range so far.
