more CB questions...

CB is in route, should be here Tuesday (except I'm not "here", and won't see it til Friday)...but I have a few questions before it arrives...

Do all CB have an external speaker output?

I bought one (Cobra 19DXIII) that has a PA output, but will it also have an external speaker output? i.e. can I run both?

Still trying to decide where to mount it, but the couple ideas I do have would basically make the speaker on the CB unit itself useless...

Greg

No, all CBs do not have an external speaker out however most do and if you have a PA out it would be same to assume that you have a speaker out as well.

I have RadioShack's compact external speaker mounted in the corner top of my dash. I have two radios so I have one speaker in each corner.

If that is infact the model # of your CB, then yes it has a jack for the PA and for an external speaker.
PDF manual
Page 7 shows it.

Quote:
2. PUBLIC ADDRESS: An external 8-ohm 4.0 watt PAspeaker may be
connected to the PASpeaker Jack when this unit is used as a public
address system. The speaker should be directed away from the
microphone to prevent acoustic feed-back. Physical separation or
isolation of the microphone and speaker must be employed when
operating the PAat high output levels.

3. EXTERNAL SPEAKER: The External Speaker Jack is used for
remote receiver monitoring. The external speaker should have
8-ohm impedance and be rated to handle at least 4.0 watts. When
the external speaker is plugged in, the internal speaker is
automatically disconnected.

Here's a place you may consider mounting the speaker.

perfect...thanks...

I like that mounting spot, and am also considering the front left corner of the windshield/dash...

Hopefully I'll get pics up in the next weekend or two...
