It is pretty cool having. But I still need to buy a Nano to just leave in there, as I tend to forget and leave my video iPod in there often. |

I have a question. I just installed this in my 06 tj. I hit preset 1 then use the seek to get to a playlist. How do I pick that playlist to listen to? Someone said hit the pty button? I don't have any button that says that? TIA.

To change playlists... 1) Hit preset one... and "playlist" appears. 2) The seek buttons (up/ down) will then take you through the playlists. 3) When you find the playlist you want, hit "pty", and it goes into that list. 4) Then the seek buttons (up/ down) go through the songs in a playlist. The other preset buttons browse artists, albums, genres, and preset five shuffles songs in the playlist. Also, the very first playlist that appears is "all songs"... on the iPod. The scan buttons (up/ down) move you through songs. The "mod" button switches to the radio, or CD, to iPod. |

A bit off topic but does anyone know if the RB1 will fit in a 04 TJ? I think I need one of those!

has anyone tested the mopar ipod integration kit with this stock stereo from a 2001 TJ?
http://i10.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/a1/84/d19d_1.JPG If so, did you need to purchase anything else besides the kit?

Wranlger TJ IPOD Install
All-
Stumbled on these posts a few weeks ago and they were sure helpful. Never have cracked open the dash on the TJ yet but the advice and the photos/directions posted really helped. I did find another solution online which has worked out really well for me. Thought I'd share... GromAudio makes a version of the box type iPod interface which you can order from them directly. It charges the iPod, has both the ability to control from the dash controls and the iPod wheel, and best of all it cost me $72 shipping included directly to my door. Works well with the factory RBK radio in my 2003 TJ Wrangler and for less than half what the MOPAR solution costs. http://www.gromaudio.com/ The cable to the iPod is pretty long as well which allowed me to run it all the way under under the plastic console and thru the inside of the locking center compartment. I can access iPod and leave it in the cupholder to operate manually, operate it from the stereo controls while leaving the ipod tucked away, and best of all it can be locked up in the console and no wires lead to prying eyes. The box is small enough to mount on the center vent duct behind the radio security bar (mounted mine with industrial strength velcro for a no noise/no drill/quick/low vibration solution). Total in and out install was 45 minutes and it has been going strong for two weeks now. Anyway, I have been impressed to say the least. I recommend. Only gripe is that the cable is white....but mine is tucked away and if I can't get over it then a little shrink wrap might have to do...another tweak. Let me know if you have any questions. - BluegrassTJ |

So it has been some time since anyone has commented in this thread. I figured this was a good time to ask about long term reliability.
How about the latest updates to iPods? Does the iPods stay compatible with the integration kit? |

The only problem I have had with the previous generation Nano is that I need to reset the iPod after updating songs on it from my Mac (where I hold down the menu and select buttons and the Nano turns off and on). If I do not reset the iPod before plugging it into the Mopar iPod Kit, it just sticks on "updating", which it goes through the iPod and notes all of the playlists and songs. This usually only takes less then 30 seconds. However the new Nano does not seem to have to be reset at all when I've used it in her Liberty. ![]() Other then that, still love it. I have yet to ever burn another CD. I'm now commuting an hour a day and the biggest problem I have is too many playlists and songs! ![]() |

Another bump. I will be installing the Mopar iPod kit in my LJ pretty soon. Just wondering if the Mopar kit charges the iPod when it's connected?
