Mini CB review... TRC-503

I was looking for a cheap mini radio for my cheap jeep and didnt want to mail order one so i walked in to my local ratshack and picked up this little guy. And for 50bux its not all that bad.

Its Rx sensitivity isnt to bad. Not as good as my ranger but not much worse. The Tx is fine. Puts out rated 4watts in to a 50ohm dummy load.

Sound out of the stock speaker is about all you can expect from the little thing. Easy to understand but real narrow. With an external speaker its much better.

Tx audio is narrow but not tin can sounding. About as good as your gona get out of a little capacitor mic.

And on size its a real winner. Here is it compared to a fullsize CB.

Its gona fit right in to where my ash tray was on my 92 XJ. And if it gets stolen its no big loss All around seems to be a good basic radio. Works WAY better then the other mini radios ive seen from a few years ago.

click the little icon with the and request it to be moved.

and assuming its getting moved, i'll add my pennys.

Got one for the simple purpose of having channel 19 in the jeep when i was doing albuquerque-elpaso-albuquerque every weekend.
Mounted great between the visors in the cherokee, and with a decent antenna, gave me what i was looking for.

when we got the second car, it got moved into there, and its worked well there... till the car stopped working, thus the cb stopped working.

but it still looks good.

I have the same one, works great up in the mountains or wherever for that matter. Never had a real CB though by real I mean $$$ so I may be a lil biased.

Good Review, thanks...

I am sure the Rat Shaq CBs will work and in SOME instances work out well enough.

I will leave it at that because if I get started with Rat Shaq I will take away from the intent of this post.

Again, CrAlt, good review.
