LiteDOTS acting strange. Reverse lights coming on very dim with running lights.

Hey guys. For some reason my LiteDOTS are acting odd. The reverse lights are slightly illuminated when I turn on my running lights. They are VERY dim and hard to notice but I know something isn't right.

Tail lights, brake lights, regular reverse lights and blinkers all work fine. The reverse lights don't come on with the key on, the motor has to be running. This is also something new. The reverse lights used to come in if I turned the battery on and put the tranny in reverse, now they wont. The grounds are fine..... Any ideas? I'm at a loss.

Sounds like a ground problem, but may not be.....

How many volts are pumping thru that reverse light wire when the running lights are on? (may be as small as a milivolt)

Do the leds die if you remove the reverse light wire?

LEDs are VERY voltage sensitive...so when the engine is running you are pumping 2 extra volts....but I always thought that good LED lights use a 7805 regulator chip.....but I could be wrong.

X2, it sounds like a missing ground though a simple wiring error can cause a similar issue. I doubt it has anything to do with the tail lights themselves.

I went through deep water about a week and a half ago at the end of our clubs wheeling trip. The water was a a bit over 3ft. deep. You think water got in a connection somewhere and corroded some wiring?

You mean you haven't yet checked over your own wiring yet to see if it's something easy like that?

Its dark when I get out of work, and my Jeep doesn't fit in my garage (about 2 inches too tall). Unless somehting prevents me from driving, it gets done on the weekend.

i love how you havent checked anything but clearly stated that your grounds were fine. pull the lights, check the connections and use dielectric grease when you put them back together(the connections that is).

I love how you jump to conclusions.... Clearly I checked the grounds if I say the grounds are okay. Everything works normal other than the feedback with the reverse lights. That's why I am figuring there is corrosion somewhere with the spliced wires and what not. I was wondering if anyone on here has had a problem with the lotedots similar to this before I tear into the harness. I have checked the plugs and all that, just not the soldered or crimped connections. Thanks for the arrogance though, I'll be sure to use more dielectric grease.

its kinda strange that 3 different people all think its a ground even though you say the grounds are good. but i guess the other 2 that thinks its a ground problem are also jumping to conclusions. FYI, your the one being arrogant by believing that you could have done no wrong when it comes to checking your own wiring.

Yeah guys, guess what......this is an old *** thread and it ended up NOT being the ground. I'm happy you guys think so highly of me!

Sorry if I seem arrogant, but it is what it is.

The wiring harness got crushed from my gas tank when I cam down on a rock. I made a new wiring harness and installed it. ORO also sent me new lights because a couple diodes went haywire.

Believe it or not, I understand how to make a new wiring harness, even though I don't understand a bad ground.

Cool deal man, Those LEDs can be hairy buggers...when I made my taillight boxs I had to install a extra 194 bulb (I'm too cheap to buy an actual 1w resistor) to keep the blinkers from feeding back into the tails.

Any little thing can cause them to get feedback...only takes a few milliamps lol
