stwilson is correct, but I also run no doors all summer and have gotten very lucky and have not got caught in any down pours and have always worried about the CB being right there in a down pour. As far as the wiring, it took the same amount to go above the rear veiw, as it did for me to go were it use to be the way I ran my wires.

Yes, It is infact a tuffy overhead and the rear compartment houses my CB. When not in use, both drawers fold up into the console and they lock. i LOVE it : )

I don't have pics but I mounted mine to a plate welded into the custom cage. It attaches where an overhead console would be, but it's between 2 bars that span from the B cage bar to a spreader bar that goes between the windshield supports.

I made a mount from a shelving bracket at the home depot. I used those steel "right angle" flat pieces of steel and I pinch the bracket in with the door surround bolts, if that makes sense. Works great. During the winter with the hard top on, I just have some 3 inch 5/16" bolts and washers to bolt down the bracket through the same holes that the door surrounds use during the summer.

Simple and cheap. Two large hose clamps, painted black. Speaker is near my ear to hear it well. Mic, not shown, has a magnet attached, and loops behind and up over the roll bar when not in use, held by another (u-shaped) magnet that I placed under one of the hose clamps. Keeps it secure when not in use, holds well when in-use and offroad.

Radio: Cobra model 75 WXST all in mic radio.
Antenna: K40 3 foot top loaded whip on Terriflex mount.
SWR: Channel 20 = 1.3
Best part is if I'm not going to use the CB or if it looks like rain (topless) I unscrew the mic cable and toss it into the glovebox.

Tuffy CB Radio Console

I have a Tuffy overhead console in my '99 TJ, and I advise against it for CB's. The radio has to be in the lowered position to use it, and it's dangerously close to the driver's or passenger's head during a bumpy 'wheeling experience. There's a warning on the console that it shouldn't be open while driving. The rear compartment houses the speaker for the CB,and that is fine, but not being able to safely use the CB while driving, at least over rough trails, is a deal killer. The other posts here show much better, safer mounting locations.

The price for one was a deal breaker for me!

Best hidden location, jk! I have the same radio & pondered several locations. Never thought of that one. I ended up putting it behind the panel where the ashtray used to be (red light on yours) It was tight but workable. The only problem is that the mic cable is kinda close to the shifter (auto).

Is that a bail out bag I see lying on the driver side? Do you use it much?
