I just got a new head unit and speakers and am getting ready to add an amp and sub... any recommendations on product and location in car?

We need a lot more information.

What size are you looking for? 8, 10, 12 or 15 inches?
What kind of music do you listen to?
How loud do you want your music to be?
One or two subs?

Without knowing your preferences, I'm running Infinity subs and amp. Good, tight defined bass without causing too much hearing loss for the neighbors...

I tried a 10" Infinity Perfect and was sorely disappointed. I returned it and I am much happier with a 10" JBL P1024. It's got dual voice coils, so I wired it for 2 ohms and hooked up an Alpine MRP-M650 to it (600 watts X 1 into 2 ohms). I have the sub in a sealed cube shaped box. It is tight, controlled, hits hard when it needs to, but doesn't overpower the rest of my system. I don't know how that would work with the rest of your system, since you didn't provide any information, but this works great with mine.

I am running a JL Audio 12w7 in a custom ported enclosure powered by a JL Audio 1000/1 and its everything you could ever want even with the top down... I know its a pricey setup, but you won't say damn I wish I would have done something more...

Props on your setup. I've heard that combo and it hits HARD, like eye rattling hard! I'm adding the same combo to my mustang. Gotta keep it cheap in the jeep so i dont get jacked.
