Jeep JK compass calibration

So I bought a daystar upper dash panel storage unit for my 07. Screwed the compass to the underside and snapped it in place. My compass was then stuck on NE. I did the manual calibration about 5 times and its reading the exact opposite of what its supposed to be. While going NE it reads SW etc. I'm pretty certain its not screwed in backwards as there are two offset screw points which need to match up of it wont fit but I'll check again. Anyone ever experienced this?
