thanks to this thread for the amp idea. The rockford fosgate amp I used can technically be mounted inverted (in a trunk), according to the manual. I would imagine the space under the steering column is about the same.

There may be an existing hole you can use. It'll have a rubber plug in it.'

Look up and to the left from the brake pedal. There should be a rubber grommet that some other wires are passing through. You can use a screw driver to poke a hole in there relatively easily.

Wanted to thank the OP for this idea, I just did mine and its an awesome spot for an amp. I have a Rockford fosgate pbr300x1 there, and replaced the stock radio with a nexus 7, that allows a pbr300x4 to fit behind there. Sounds awesome

To the OP what is the max size amp I can fit in there. I was looking at getting the Alpine MRX-F65

The size is •Dimensions: 10-5/8"W x 9"D x 2-1/4"H

2010 JKU (6-spd)

I had looked at putting my MRV-F300 up in the dash but it looked tight so I took out the factory sub box and mounted inside the console. It's driving 4 Polks and sub box in instatrunk.
