Inside Seat Subwoofer Box Build
Me and Chris (SirGCal) started on the box yesterday, and got alot done. I got there at 2 pm and left at 12:30 am. We worked all day on it and got the box completed. He showed me alot about woodworking, since most of my building skills involve metal work. By the end of the night I'd say my box building skills went from a 1, to an 6 on a scale of 1-10. This is a timely build and takes a lot of patience, 10 hours for just the box.

![]() Chris spraying the inside of the box ![]() ![]() Lidding it up ![]() By the end of the night even Chris's wife was helping out and grabbing tools and stuff. Huge Huge thanks to him and her for helping me and letting me use his tools, garage, time, physical labor, and skills. JF has some really great members. The subs are going to drop in there hopefully next week. Hopefully I can spray it with some bedliner tomorrow at work. |

I'm surprised you didn't show the finished image after we routered the box clean.
![]() Be sure you don't put too thick a layer on or the box won't drop into the frame... And leave at least 1/2" around the mounting areas (leave just past the bolt holes). I'm excited to see this one done and see how twin 10's are going to sound in such a small box. It will be interesting. FYI all, we did add 1/4" to allow for the depth of this specific sub. This will also add a tad to the end result of the available volume. I also found a typo in my plans which a few people had mentioned to me but couldn't see it without doing it again. Multiple ways to fix it but I'm fixing the plans to be accurate today.

I didnt get a shot of the edges that we routered.. but take our word for it guys, its smooth.
I cut all the extra glue that the router didnt get today. ![]() ![]() UHHH OHHH got her lined up The edge I did not line is not perfect, but I didnt have a real good stencil to work from, then I had to run the wire for it and its definatley not perfect, but I think it will do great. The sub should cover it up nicely. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

now THAT's one waterproof box... (if you have some, you can spray the still open areas around the sub openings with spray paint just for that extra tiny bit.)
I actually can't wait to get that puppy installed... Hopefully this weekend I'm more mobile than I was last weekend.

Are you going to have a step by step on actually putting it in the seat? I'd like to see that.

There are a few different examples of different years going into the seats on my website writeups (Jeep Projects area). So you don't have to wait for these... But if he doesn't take pictures, I'll wack him upside the noggin fer-ya.
![]() But someone buy this boy a camera... His cell has issues in the dim light (the fuzzy pictures). Sorry... he said people made fun of him about that... I couldn't resist. ![]()
