I have an emergency with the emergency lights

I have a 98 TJ and it has been having a few problems that I believe are related to wireing.
-My emergency flashers dont seem to be working, when I click the thing over to turn them on just one of my turn signals goes on. (I believe its my right one)
-my windshield wipers seem to have a bad connection. When I put them on the variable setting sometimes they go on slow like they are supposed to, and sometimes they just go semi-fast like they are on the medium setting even when I have the knob turned so they are supposed to go very slow.

I am thinking that these issues are possibly related, maybe the wireing is shared or something, I dont know. Does anyone know how these things are wired up or have any ideas on what might be going wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be to first check the connections at the column. They might be corroded or weak. it sounds like that is where most of your problems are... It would be my first place to check.
