I found a subwoofer
I have a '03 Rubicon with the stock stereo in it. I took out the center console and found I have a subwoofer (what is left of it). I have a Kenwood KDC-X92 and 4 Infinity Reference 5022i (5 1/4) due in today from Crutchfield. Is there a separate amp that drives this subwoofer and if so, where is it located? I read the threads below regarding the replacement of the subwoofer but there was no mention of the location of this amp. I would like to have a sub connected to my new system.

It is in the black box that houses the factory subwoofer.
The tiny little factory amp isn't going to run much more than another cheapo 6.5" sub. Look in the subwoofer thread on here and you'll get an idea of what you can install. It's easy to replace the sub and while you may lose some sound (due to to the wiring configuration) it'll be better than nothing. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f20/how-replace-factory-subwoofer-579589/ |
