how's this alpine setup look?

a buddy of mine wanted help putting together a decent (nothin too fancy or expensive) stereo for his saturn. he had already purchased the first set of speakers before he started to talk to me about it. he doesn't know anything about stereo setups and whatnot, he just knows what he wants. i told him i'd try to get everything matched up as best i could within the same brand. he decided for whatever reason, he wanted to stick with Alpine only. don't get me wrong, alpine makes nice stuff, but he won't even entertain anything else. there really isn't anything wrong with that, i just thought i'd mention that before anyone asks why it's all alpine. so here's what he has and will be getting:

already has 2 pair of these: Model: SPS-170A
front doors and rear deck thing. 40watts RMS

picked this h/u out: Model: CDA-9847

picked this 4 channel amp to power the speakers: Model: MRP-F240
40 watts RMS x 4

picked out a pair of these SVC 200 watt RMS 10" subs to run in parallel: Model: SWE-1042

picked out this mono channel amp to power the two subs: Model: MRP-M350

what do ya'll think?

or should he just run one sub off that mono amp? he probably doesn't need two subs, but i guess he'd like it.

That system looks pretty damn good. He should run the subs in paralelle and the amp should do just fine...

That setup looks fine...running the amp into 2ohms by wiring the subs in parallel will only give each sub about 175W RMS...which is in their 50-250W RMS range, so it's okay. If he wants to get the most from the E-Types, try to talk to him into a 500Wx1 RMS @ 2ohms so you can throw the full 250W RMS to each sub...you might have to go elsewhere than Alpine for that, but there are a lot of quality amps out there.

Just a thought, though this etup will sound nice,

JeepinTJ99.....good idea actually. i had originally looked at this sub but passed over it. it just may be the ticket. it's a 500watts RMS DVC sub. it's actually alpine's better sub.

Model: SWR-1042D

oh TSX, i think you mis-understood...i was talking about him to get a 500Wx1 RMS @ 2ohms AMP, not sub. He can keep those E-types, but it would be "optimum" if he had a 500W amp to power both of those 250W RMSsubs.

another option around 500W would be to go with that nicer type-r...but only 1 sub in that situation...i think the (2) 10" type-e's would hit harder than a single 10" type-r.

Your speakers are just fine you need more wattage is what JeepinTJ99 is saying. If you are looking to buy more equipment you should buy another amp and push them seperately. I don't know the specifics like JeepinTJ99 so you might need a bigger amp not speaker.

My first reply was if you were not going to buy anything else..You will always be able to get bigger and better.

That setup should work very well as planned. You could potentially push the subs a touch harder but it's not really required and they should work very well off that amp. But if you wanted too, JeepinTJ has already pointed you in the right direction.

thanks all. i think as it is now, after talking to my buddy, he's probably just going to run one of the subs. although, we might still look into a second.

Could someone post pics of amps installed under the front seats? I am trying to figure out what size will best use that space, and what can actually fit. It seems pretty tight under there - 12" x 7 1/2" under and behind the drivers side, and only 8" x 7" under the passenger side with the jack removed. Of course, I could be looking at this all wrong...

Thanks
