How would you do a stereo system, on a budget.
Ok, little backgrownd, 1985 dodge, stadard cab, so i have a small, metal box to work with. The Head unit i have, a 15 year old audiovox rampage 25x2 is dieing, the input and volume are going out. I have it connected to a set of boxed speakers, 2 5 1/4" whoofers and 2 tweeters behind the seat.
I want to add 2 more speakers to the front of me, and mabey a small sub( remember, small metal box, so it doesnt take much to get loud). I'm looking at this-Kenwood Stereo and Speakers Package KDC-138 CD receiver and KFC-1660S 6-1/2" speakers at Crutchfield.com KDC-138 CD receiver: CD player with built-in MOSFET amplifier (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels) plays CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RW discs detachable face System Q Sound Control (6 EQ curves and a 3-band equalizer) low-pass filter and subwoofer level control inputs: front-panel auxiliary input outputs: one set of preamp outputs (can be switched to subwoofer mode) warranty: 1 year KFC-1660S 6-1/2" speakers: 2-way car speakers for 6-1/2" and 6-3/4" locations (pair) mica-injected polypropylene dimpled woofer cone with cloth surround PEI semi-dome tweeter power range: 2-35 watts RMS (170 watts peak power) frequency response: 35-22,000 Hz sensitivity: 92 dB warranty: 1 year I'm thinking a cheaper 10" sub, not run with too much power would be good, I dont want loud thumping bass, i just want to be able to hear the drums and bass guitar better.cheers2:

Ok, how would this be for a sub set up?
This amp-http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KSA3002/JVC-KS-AX3002.html?tp=115 2-channel car amplifier 65 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (90 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms) 130 watts RMS x 1 in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode) selectable low-pass (80 Hz) and high-pass (150 Hz) filters (12 dB per octave) <LI sizset="167" sizcache="32">CEA-2006 compliant speaker- and preamp-level inputs fuse rating: 25A x 1 8-gauge power and ground leads recommended — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier 8-3/8"W x 2"H x 7-3/4"D warranty: 1 year And this Sub/box combo-http://www.crutchfield.com/p_204110RS/Bazooka-ELB110RS.html?tp=112 ported hatchback-style enclosure with one 10" ELW1014P subwoofer medium-density fiberboard construction covered with black carpet 4-ohm total impedance power handling: 50-150 watts RMS (300 watts peak power) frequency response: 20-250 Hz sensitivity: 87 dB 15"W x 13"H x 13-5/8"D1 x 11-3/8"D2 warranty: 1 year and the power wire/fuse and RCA cable. Would that be a good setup? |

No. Simply put, that sub isn't going to fit at all in a standard-cab pickup unless you remove the passenger seat. You need to get a truck-style box if you're going to do an off-the-shelf job.
And FYI, actually it's easier to get loud (well, cleanly) in a large open room instead of the small metal can since much of the soundwaves can not actually FIT into that small metal can. ;-) Just a bit of info for ya. The deck and fill look OK.
