How many Ham Ops are on the forum? always looking to work other mobiles!

Hi gang, new to forum, Drew KB2SEo here, i have HF and 2 meters in the Jeep- I am usually on 10 and/or 40 meters. Does any of the jeep users have a frequency they hang on? I listen on 146.520 and 28.400, the National calling frequencies. my Jeep is my Daily drive, so I am usually on in the mornings, about 6:40 or so Eastern time, would love to set up a "Sked" om 40 with other Jeep Ops, also Look for us on 28.390 USB 8 pm thursdays - North GA Laryngitis Net...any licensed ham welcome.

I made a similar post a while back, last I checked it was over 9 pages, lol. Theres a few on here, you could say. Just upgraded yesterday to general, but only have a 2m in the jeep at the moment. With the terrain here, .520 is hard to raise people in places, but you can hit multiple repeaters here. Theres a few that have IRLP on them, so I imagine I could raise you thru one huh? How good is the 10m while mobile, fm and usb? Don't know if I'll add HF to the jeep, and if I do, what kind of route I'll go with. I know we have a couple of 6m repeaters in the state, and 1 10m repeater in Denver.

I've got a 2m in my Jeep and shop truck that I have on the local repeater which does have IRLP access. Still working on the HF in the Jeep.

Haven't managed to get the antennas back up after the October Blizzard took out most of the trees here, so not much HF activity

I haven't had a chance to upgrade to general yet, but I tend to monitor 2m, 70cm, & 6m calling frequencies (generally, just 2m & 70 cm). I'm in Chatt, TN.

I'm seriously eyeballing the MFJ 43-foot vertical and a remote tuner as a relatively blizzard-proof setup that my neighbors won't complain to "the authorities" about.

There are tricks for the 43 foot vertical. Of course a good ground field under it. Then, matching stubs along it. A web search on "43 foot vertical mods" will yield a lot of results.

Little off topic, so dont beat me up here, but on the hamsticks...
Since they are verticles, they should radiate a pattern horizontally, how well do they work for HF? Normally I think of yagis, and the like with HF and SSB. I really don't know if I'll ever stomach doing a mobile HF install, though out here it makes sense to. Wife freaked when I put an NMO on the roof of the liberty, lol.

KK4BUE here. I live in Houston, TX but go to school in Alabama where I got my license. I sometimes carry around my mobile, and monitor 2m/440 bands.. but not many other college students have licenses so it's pretty quiet. I have a comet sbb-7 antenna mounted on my Wrangler so I can hook it up to the mobile real quick. A lot of people ask if I'm majoring in communications or electrical engineering.. but nope, just Architecture

You may find me on 10m when open at 28.445, occasionally 28.427, as well.

Usually you'll best find the mobile here parked at 7.018 or 7.028 giving the paddles a work out.

Some mornings I like to check in with the 7.272 rag-chew group.

If we're out camping, never know where the XYL and I will be lingering...
