Heck, I just pulled the fuse. Takes all of 2 seconds.

All you need to do is scroll down the Electrical, Audio, & 2 way radio forum page.

It's not even halfway down.

You have to buy a few things first.

Rocker Switch from Salvo: $1.50
Wire: Free from Work (can't be that much at Salvo) 10-12 ga.
Inline Fuse holder: $2.00
Assorted Terminals: Free from Work

All said and done, maybe $10.00 - $15.00 if you have to buy it all.

Here is the inline fuse holder for the mini fuse 10.

Here is a fuzzy close up of two male quick connects that are crimped to the wire.

Here is the mounted switch in the factory switch blank (the red one)

Hope that gives you some ideas. Good luck, and it wasn't that hard of a mod. Make sure the male quick connects are the right size (skinny, long, and not too thick).

just take open the glove box and take the fuse out, when i bought my jeep i didn't have one and it didn't beep at me and the light didn't come on...i tend to forget about my headlights being on sometimes so i put the fuse in, but its SUPER easy...easier than putting the top down

Here's a quick (20ish mins) way to add a switch, if you are like me and like the ability to turn on and off the lights and chime at will without taking the pain in the butt fuse out.

Cost: $4.00 for some rocker or toggle switch of your choice

Take off your center consule cover (about 2 minutes)
Take off your glove box and remove the fuse box (about 2 minutes)
On the back of your fuse box located in the bottom left corner are the wires for Fuse #4, 2 Yellow/Green and 1 Black wire
Cut the black wire and strip (about 2 more minutes)
Mount the switch in the provided switch locations in the center console (you'll have to take out the four screws holding it in) this requires some drilling but super easy (about 7-10 minutes)
Wire one end of the black wire to one side of the new switch and the other side of the wire to the other side of the switch (about 2 minutes)
Put it all back to gether (5 minutes)

All in all about 20 minutes of level 1 work. The fuse will act properly just as it would normally, most to all switches are rated much higher than the 10A #4 Fuse. If ya want pictures, just ask. I'll post them then.

Sounds simple enough. I have a switch ordered from 4x4mods to do just this. My question is, since my switch has a light in it, how do I wire it into the fuse box and have the switch light up when it is "activated?"

You could also just unplug the door sensors. They pull out of the holes in the door jamb and unplug. Toss 'em in the glove box with your hardtop bolts.
