help with stereo in Tuffy console install

hey guys, ok, my tuffy console and stereo are here. I have a pretty good idea on what I need to do to make this work but had a couple of remaining questions:

1. The antenna wire isn't long enough. So i went to Radio Shack and asked if they had but no go. Does anyone know the technical term for this wire? also, would it be easier to undo the plug crimp and solder extra wire? or just get the whole wire new and reconnect to the antenna base and plug crimp?

2. I bought some Radio Shack hook up wire, specs are rated 300 volts, 18 gauge. Will this wire be ok to bridge the wires from the factory harness to the stereo harness?

3. When you slide in the stereo into the console, I noticed that there is a little bit of play, room for the stereo to move around side to side. Since this is metal to metal, did anyone put anything in between to sorta cushion everything?

Thanks guys for the input, will post pics when i'm done.

1. walmart sells antenna wire in the auto section
2. that wire will be fine.
3. Is the stereo mounting frame loose in the console or the stereo loose in the frame?

You can look at the following for some mounting options...

These detail how we installed some radio gear that was not standard DIN size. Might give you some ideas.

The stereo mounting frame is loose in the console. Again, it's not alot, my main concern is skipping while playing cd's.
