I have a rubi with the 7 speaker system so my fronts are 4inch, but if you have a 4 speaker system I believe it will go like this.

front: 4x6's
rear: 5.25's

I believe a company makes a bracket so you can install 5.25's in the front as well.

The soundbar can, without modification, accept non-S style 6.5" speakers. S-style 6.5" speakers have a deeper speaker depth due to a bigger magnet so they won't fit.

The TJ's front speakers are 4x6 but they have a non-standard frame size which means aftermarket 4x6 speakers won't fit. Probably the best thing you can do is buy one of the speaker adapters made for TJs and install a better sounding round 5.25" speaker. Go to this website for the (overpriced) speaker adapters.... http://www.offroadtoystore.com/Merch...t_Code=33-5100

shop around on Crutchfield to see the "S" and "non-S"...then go buy them somewhere cheaper...

I wouldn't waste the $25 on the brackets...buy the $10 version here:

http://www.mjmautoinnovations.com/sakj46t525.htm

and yes, you can run 5.25" speakers in the front that way...

I either buy four of the same 5.25", or a pair of 5.25" for the front and a pair of 6.5" (of the same "line" of the same brand) for the roll bar...

I'm running 5.25" in mine...

but, as I understand it, a 6.5" will fit simply by drilling 4 new holes for the screws...they'll drop right into the openings...

this is for the roll bar...not sure about the new wedges in the TJ...

Some 6.5" even come with their own adapter ring (the Alpine SPS-170A's for example). These smaller 6.5" speakers are commonly swapped where 5.25" were normal so these rings are sometimes included in todays packaged speakers. If not, as BW suggested, just simply drilling 4 new holes will often mount the 6.5" speaker in the sound bars. I've even fit some of the larger ones without trouble also. But depth is the biggest thing to keep an eye on selecting speakers. Measure yours, I've found the sound bars to very slightly up to 1/2" in depth difference. They probably used a different stamp or something at one time. Just pop a speaker out and measure from the shortest point to the lip of the metal. (a small strait-edge might be helpful)

hey guys could you tell me if these will fit my Jeep??

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ao9NOmD...0&I=1084625CFP

and

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ao9NOmD...=400&I=108525I

I think these two speakers seem real good and have a decent amount of power handling. I will be buying the adapter bracket and wiring harness for the front speakers and for the sound bar i will be buying the wiring harness. I may also buy some foam baffles to help with bass. Tell me what you guys think and if these will fit. Thanks

well...the first ones are 4x6 plates...

which goes against the entire discussion of using the adapter brackets and putting 5.25" speakers in the front...

why buy the wiring harnesses...just buy a pack of female spade terminals and wire directly to the speakers...

No you don't need the harness. Crutchfield usually includes them for free though so no big deal but I wouldn't pay for them.

If you wired one speaker out of phase with another (one speaker pos/neg backwards), what will happen is a serious noise cancelation. You will lose all low and high frequencies and it will sound like an old radio, strong in the middle frequencies, hollow, and without feeling. It's pretty noticable. This will not damaget he speakers or stereo in any way, it just sounds like crap.

In an extreme situation only; To check polarity of an unknown wiring setup; you can use a 9 volt battery. Connect it to the speaker (just the factory speaker which you will throw away afterward.) When the speaker pushes out of the front (instead of sucking into the basket), the polarity of the speaker is the same as the battery terminals. It's an old school method but it works. From there you can tell which wires were connected to which terminal and figure out the neg/pos connections.

if you're buying the speakers from Crutchfield, the'll be included for free, and will be an easier install...

but if you shop around and find the same speakers for less (like Ebay), then don't worry about paying for the harnesses...
