What output does the thermostat send out? Positive, negative, or just adds resistance to the circuit? If there is no way to use the stock thermostat, are there any easy places to install an aftermarket sender? __________________ Black 2001 Wrangler SE, stats in profile |

Web Wheeler | Is the stock (OEM) unit an electrical setup ? If yes then you can use the existing output to activate a relay that in turn would run the fan. If the OEM setup is not electrical then I don't think so. The thermostat you get with an electric fan or one you can buy usually work well enough. __________________ Scrambler82 Do it right the first time ! |

The Specialist Join Date: Oct 2004 Location: Wappingers Falls, NY Posts: 1,353 | My stock fan is mechanical(2001 2.5L), the fan is stock out of a 2.4L TJ. I want to try to wire something off of the thermostat to trigger the relay, but I don't know what the OEM thermostat output is(I'll have to see if I can find my FSM and check there) and I'm not sure if that would affect the readings on my dash if I tapped into one of those wires. If I get an aftermarket thermostat, do I just drill and tap a hole? Does it get installed in the engine block or the radiator. Thanks __________________ Black 2001 Wrangler SE, stats in profile |

Any kind of support she can get is always appreciated. I listen to country and rock far more than techno, but I still like her stuff and I'm still incredibly proud of her. |

Registered User | From the questions you are asking I'd say you shouldn't play with a fan you don't own. If the fan works pay for it. |
