Got a CB.

I installed my first CB today! it's a uniden 510XL, bought direct from uniden (Refurbished) for $29.00 , A firestik II from Ebay for $15.99 + shipping. And a Jeep cb antenna mount from ebay as well, for $17.99. Cable, velcro, and SWR meter, store bought locally. the unit is velcro'd to the dash, and power come by way of the cigarette lighter adapter, so it just pops in and out when needed. Antenna just unsrews.

Nice looks real good.
If you start getting noise... you might try going straight to the battery.

Thank's. Yeah, I read about that before my install, I still wanted the portability. Like you said , if I start to get noise, I could buy a female cigarette lighter adapter, and wire that directly to the battery.

Right now, it seems to be fine. Buy noise, do you mean, a whining sound (alternator wine)?

why do you need to buy a female adapter?? A pair of wire cuts, a ring terminal and some electrical tape and you're set.

I have the cigarrette lighter plug in as well. Searching around for a good place to mount mine and saw this one.

Yours looks good though

I would wire a "NEW" cigarette lighter (FEMALE) directly to the battery, and keep the cb's male cigarette lighter plug(adapter) for protability

UPDATE: My original installation of the antenna and cable looked nice, however, the way I routed the cable from the mount around the back of the brake light assembly was not acceptable. the spare tire sqeezed the cable against the brake light assembly, I didn't really like this. Secondly, after the install, I took the jeep for a ride, and accidently hit the rear wiper switch (it wasn't raining), good thing I did! it was hitting the new antenna mount I got from Arizona Rocky Road.

So, this morning, I decided to re-route the antenna cable and fix the wiper blade problem. Also, when I initially installed the antenna mount, it hit the spare tire mount in the corner, and would not seat plump, so I had to grind off a little bit of the corner of the mount. Don't get me wrong, the mount is well made, and a very nice price, but it needs a whee bit more quality control .
I added one washer on each bolt, between the antenna mount and the spare tire mount.

Here are some pics of the REDUX
