Is this a good package deal? Uniden Pro 510XL

My wife is looking to get me a CB for the Jeep and neither of us knows anything about them. This is only going to be used when riding on the trails. I'd like to keep the total around $100....even though she's buying it, it's still my money making the purchase. Is this a good deal for what I'm looking for? I know it would be easier to just point her in the direction of buying a package that includes everything.

www.walcottcb.com has good prices. See if they have a package deal or price out each part and compare.

Yes, that kit would work fine and that's a very good brand of radio and antenna. Personally, I like the slightly stiffer Firestik FS-3 antenna since it doesn't whip around as much but plenty of people like Wilson antennas too. Nevertheless, that kit as is would work fine for you.

The package looks good, if possible see if you can upgrade the CB to the 520XL... either way.

There is an option for the 3' Wilson too.

I have the 520XL but the only real benefit it has over the 510XL is that it has a PA function which few would care about or want. I finally connected up a PA speaker but I've yet to use the PA function anywhere. The 520XL's RF Gain control is not needed. I've never touched my 520XL's RF Gain control in the 12 years it has been installed. Personally, I'd save the $$$ and go with the more compact 510XL if I had it to do over again.

Thanks for this post and link. I was looking to get a CB and just pulled the string on this one as well. I'm not exactly "electonically gifted" so this install should be interesting.
