Post electronics rack prototype pics..

Ok.. got my home-made electronic rack zip-tied in.. i didnt want a bolt in version.. it's 1/2" C-channel aluminum w/ a 6x24 16 gauge sheet metal bolted to it.. i had to step up the ends so it would sit on top of the roll bars and not hang so low.. it's painted with textured rustoleum.. gives a niiiiiice finish.. anyway.. next one i build will use steel rails.. the alu flexes a bit much but it does the job.. oh yeah.. materials cost me all of $18... oh yeah.. that's a Cobra 148 NW ST (loong and biig radio tweaked to 25watts) and a radio shack pro-2067 police/weather/radio scanner.. going to bolt/velcro up a overhead light too..

Interesting setup .. do you have any drawings that others can use to duplicate the plans?

I see you have a YJ .. how did you get the wires to flow properly, and how did you mount it across your windshield, and does it get in the way of your sun visors .. and .. I can't think of anymore questions right now ..

BTW: the link to the picture that you are trying to show at the end is

drawings? it's a prototype.. basically.. two peices of C-channel cut to the width of in between the bars.. then 4 8" peices cut to be used as the step-up and riveted so the overall length is teh length from bar center to bar center.. holes are drilled in the ends.. and zip-ties run through it.. the size of the sheet metal used is up to u man.. all depends on how far into the cab you want the rack and the size of your equipment..
as for wires.. i zip tied those to the back side of the c channel to hide them..
